Born in Chicago, I lived in Palatine, IL for 46 years. That's where we raised our 3 daughters. After a short stay in McHenry, I moved to Chicago, residing there for the first time since I was 5 years old. My husband, Dan, and I raised our 3 girls in Palatine. Now we have 2 sons-in-law and 2 granddaughters too.
What attracted me to Shaklee 33 years ago? Initially I think it was the idea of having my own business. I grew up in an entrepreneurial family. It was always in the back of my head that I could do it too. I trained adults in an insurance company right out of college, a good skill to learn. About 35 to 40% of Shaklee marketers have been teachers.
By then a tennis friend had interested me in trying 5 or 6 supplements. I truly felt I was doing her a favor - that they wouldn't be any better than others I'd bought at the grocery. Those didn't give me more energy or impact the colds, sore throats, sinus infections I had every year. Surprise! For the first time, Shaklee supplements made a distinct difference in how I felt. Even my golf and tennis revved up a notch - and that really got my attention. I started to talk to others about Shaklee because I wanted them to feel healthier too.
Out driving on a Fall Sunday in 1985, I popped a tape in the car's tape deck. Several Shaklee leaders of the top rank - Master Coordinator - told their stories of getting started and becoming successful. I thought, "I could do that!"
At the time we had 3 teenage daughters, so I started out working Shaklee around the edges of my life. The business grew because, like me, my friends, neighbors and relatives could see the difference Shaklee made in their lives.
