Immune System Tips for a Healthier You

What are some of the basics that you can focus on to buoy up a so-so immune system?  Were you one of those kids who often had colds, earaches, sore throats?  I was - and so was my mother.  Maybe that's why I'm always investigating ways to fight off invaders more effectively.

1.  Sleep well...8 hours, if possible.  That's when your body repairs and recharges for the next day.
2.  To keep your body at a good weight, eat a balanced diet, choosing mainly whole, unprocessed foods without much fat or simple sugars.  Concentrate on fresh  vegetables, salads, fresh fruits, healthy protein, whole grains.  Need help?  Go to http://www.mypyramid.gov/.
3.  Working with your MD, gradually decrease your reliance on medications.
4.  Be positive!  Optimists are healthier and live longer than pessimists.
5.  Exercise regularly.  Exercise boosts the immune system's response.  Experts suggest at least 30 minutes a day.  Both too little and too much exercise can be harmful, though most of us need be more concerned with the "too little."
6.  Avoid exposure to toxins - in our homes, food, air, water, cleaners and personal products.  Shaklee can help you with most of those. Toxic stress weakens the immune system.
7.  Add a supplement program.  It'll provide the boost you need to function at your top level.  I'll give you more details on supplements to consider in my next post.
