My Aging Is Measured By What?!

This cute little tyke doesn't have to think about aging, but most of us do.  Have you heard of "DNA methylation"?  Well, neither had I!  It's a new way to measure how your body is aging.  It's defined as the process by which genes are altered as the body's cells differentiate and their genetic programs change to meet new demands.

Researchers studied thousands of DNA samples from 51 different tissues and cells.  They figured out a formula that could determine the age of the tissue from which the tested cells were taken.  This could be from the blood, heart, muscle, lungs, brain, liver or pancreas.

Author Steve Horvath, UCLA bio-information expert, found that one part of a woman's body routinely tests as being older -- the breast tissue.  It's often two to three years older than the woman is.  Horvath also looked at the methylation of cells taken from breasts of women with breast cancer.  On average, the tissue near the tumor was 12 years older (by DNA methylation standards) than the rest of her body.

On the other hand, some parts of us, such as cardiac muscle and musculo-skeletal tissue, are typically younger than one's age.  All of this reminds me that we do have a choice about whether we help our bodies stay younger.  It has to do with exercise, how we eat - and using special aids such as Vivix.  A patented resveratrol and phytonutrient formula, Vivix slows aging at the cellular level in four ways:  cell defense, cell energy, cell repair and cell performance.

I wish it had been around 70 years ago when my Aunt Dorothy died of breast cancer or even 15 years ago when my sister-in-law, Vi, succumbed to breast and ovarian cancers.  I'm sure you could name many friends and relatives who've done the same as well as others who have survived.  For more info, see your Product Guide or go on line to: www.wellness-matters.myshaklee.com or call/ email me.
