How Are Your Telomeres?

Dr. Elizabeth Blackburn, Shaklee Scientific Board Advisor, received the 2009 Nobel Prize for Medicine.  It was for her discovery of an enzyme that lengthens and protects chromosomes.  Over time, telomeres gradually shorten.  Telomere length is thought to be a marker of your overall health.

Shaklee conducted a telomere study that compared 2 groups.   One had been using Shaklee for at least 5 years and the other were healthy, non-smokers from the San Francisco Bay area.  The rate of telomere shortening in Shaklee users was 40% lower than the healthy control group.  A statistical analysis projects that an 80-year-old Shaklee user would have the same telomere length as a 41-year old.

What's a telomere anyway?  It's a repetitive segment of DNA found on the ends of chromosomes.  With each mitotic division, parts of the telomeres of a chromosome are lost.  It's believed that telomeres show how much one is aging.  When they are depleted, the cell dies or becomes less active...

So you should be interested in how your telomeres are doing - and consider taking Shaklee's VIVIX.  Its key ingredients protect and repair DNA.  In a clinical study, the key ingredients were shown to blunt the inflammatory response that normally occurs from an unhealthy meal, which over time can lead to cellular aging.
